Hypnobirthing class Reviews

I have just finished the HypnoBirthing course with Claire and it was so much more than I thought it would be.  I'm a natural worrier and was feeling so nervous about giving birth, but this course has really washed away my anxiety.  Not only was the course filled with information to help me prepare for birth, I have learnt wonderful relaxation techniques which I now use in my day to day life.

My husband did the course with me and he is feeling so confident about how he can support me through the journey.  He has learnt all the techniques to coach and encourage me through.

Claire was absolutely amazing.  She was encouraging, understanding, patient and able to adapt the course to our personal circumstances.

Claire has taught us how natural having a baby is, and how to be excited for this stage of our lives.  I can honestly say I am feeling so positive about this experience and I can't thank Claire and the HypnoBirthing course enough!

Having just completed our course, my husband and I feel ready to meet our baby in a calm and confident manner, thanks to the support and guidance of Claire.

Despite the uncertainty that 2020 had brought, participating in the online sessions with Claire has relieved any anxiety over the birth and I can honestly say that I am looking forward to the journey that Hypnobirthing has equipped me for.

I particularly enjoyed learning about the fourth trimester, feeling empowered by the knowledge gained and the enthusiasm Claire displayed each week. The sessions were supported by our own practice at home with an array of handouts and resources which were provided prior to the course starting.

Hypnobirthing has taught us that what we do now, during the birth and throughout the 'golden month' is of up most importance to our baby; guiding us through the different stages which, in turn, allowed for a greater bonding experience.

Diolch yn fawr, Claire.

I first came about HypnoBirthing 4 years ago before the birth of my son. I was told about it by my sister in law who had done the course for the birth of her daughter. I wasnt fearful of the birth however we have all got our misconceptions thanks to the media and films so I found a course local to me and booked straight away; I thought if anything can make it a better experience for me and my husband - then why not?!

My husband wasn't in too it to begin with as he thought it was a bit hippyish but after the first class we were both in amazement! Its like our eyes were opened to how birth should be! (I was a little cross at the media for telling lies all this time!)

Fast forward to the birthing day, I felt my surges coming in the morning and spent all day walking around a local park, we eventually went to the birth unit in the afternoon and we were kept in as labour was progressing. All the time I was listening to my relaxation audio, walking the halls! My son arrived in the evening with no pain relief or interventions.

He was such a calm and content baby, people used to comment on how observant and happy he was!

I had a refresher course 4 years later to prepare for the birth of my second baby. The birth of my daughter was quicker of that of my son. I felt more in control and I knew what I was doing. I trusted my body more the second time round and I believe that this is what made this birth smoother.

I am absolutely an advocate for HypnoBirthing as I know it works. I felt empowered, supported, calm and relaxed and the birth of my children is something I will never forget, all for good reasons

Around 4pm I had a definite 'show'. I watched some TV while sitting on my birthing ball still feeling fairly relaxed. When my husband appeared from working from home upstairs, I got up from the ball and my membranes ruptured. What initially only seemed like a small amount proceeded to be followed by a gush and quite soon I was soaked through on the lower half of my body. Having this happened made me cry as I wasn't quite 37 weeks pregnant and I knew there would be a time limit on me giving birth.

My husband reassured me and he rang the hospital, with me in the background saying that I wasn't going to go in. I showered, got into our bed while he lit Lavender candles and played affirmations recorded with his voice. I was having surges and we attempted to time them. Feeling more rational, we discussed our options and made the decision to make our way to hospital as baby was considered premature, albeit by days. This decision was helped by having a discussion with my Consultant Midwife and being in the calm, safe surroundings of my own home, using the BRAINS technique we had learned as part of our Hypnobirthing course. ......

On arrival at the hospital, I had to leave my husband at the door to the Labour ward which was upsetting, especially as  my surges were coming thick and fast. I then spent two hours on my own waiting to be examined by a doctor as my baby was considered premature and therefore a midwife wasn't able to do this......

Although a midwife did come and go during those two hours, I dealt with my surges alone and did manage to listen to the Rainbow Relaxation, again with my husband's voice, which helped soothe me. I declined pain relief and by the time a doctor came and said I needed to go on to the Labour suite, a quick examination revealed I was 8cm..... and an hour and 15 minutes later, our son arrived into this world.

While my birth journey was nothing like we had planned and was so quick I wasn't able to establish my breathing techniques properly, our baby arrived smoothly, without interventions or any trauma for myself...........

I felt fantastic afterwards and was up and about and raring to go.

Misty’s Birth- For my second birth I delved deeper into HypnoBirthing as I had such a wonderful experience during my first. I used the special breathing techniques to help me feel calm and to get to sleep during my pregnancy. My labour began incredibly gently the surges were so gradual I was able to go about my day, relaxing, taking a walk in the local woods and slowly getting our space prepared. The first part of my labour was actually quite long around 18 hours and I experienced a resting phase somewhere in the middle of that but the HypnoBirthing kept me calm and focused all the way through. My midwife was astounded that my heart rate was exactly the same each reading. The breathing was really the thing that worked most for me. When it was finally time to get in the pool things then progressed quite quickly. My husband did the breathing with me which really helped, he got in the pool with me this time around and we met our daughter together which was so beautiful. The midwives were crying and one said she was inspired to train up in HypnoBirthing as she saw how well it had worked for me. I felt such a high after both my births that lasted for weeks. I was so proud of what I had achieved. HypnoBirthing gave me the confidence and tools to have the birth I truly desired.
